Prog nerds of down under assemble — Bird’s Robe Records is throwing itself a birthday bash for the ages.

To celebrate 15 years of weird, wonderful and wildly ambitious alternative music, the Aussie indie powerhouse is throwing a seven-date festival tour this December, bringing together a stacked lineup of prog, post-rock and alt-rock icons from both sides of the globe.

Bird’s Robe 15th Birthday Tour Announcement

The Bird’s Robe 15th Anniversary Tour will hit Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne across two weekends (Dec 5–7 and Dec 11–14), headlined by local heavyweights COG, Texan post-hardcore legends …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Sydney post-rock titans sleepmakeswaves, and Boston’s cinematic rock crew Caspian, all backed by an elite squad of Bird’s Robe faves.

And yep — there’s also some juicy reunions in the mix. Math-prog icons Squat Club and ambient rockers Grun are both reuniting for the first time in years, while Closure In Moscow and Toehider return to home stages after a ten-month live hiatus. Expect rare performances from cult favourites Meniscus, SEIMS, Anubis, Shanghai and more — with most playing their only Aussie shows for 2025.

Beyond the music, punters can also expect exclusive merch giveaways, early bird freebies (snacks and bevvies), meet-and-greets, and even table tennis tournaments at select venues — AKA a full blown prog party extravaganza.

The celebration also coincides with the rollout of Bird’s Robe’s long-awaited doco series, which dropped its first episode this month. New eps will roll out fortnightly until December, tracing the label’s 15-year evolution from DIY beginnings to genre-defying tastemaker, clocking over 1,500 shows, 200 releases, and 50 million streams.

Affectionately dubbed Mikefest II (a nod to founder Mike Solo and the original 5th birthday bash back in 2015), this is more than just a tour — it’s a full-circle celebration of Australia’s most adventurous alt music community.

Or as Solo himself puts it: “Please join us to relive the memories, create new ones & celebrate an epic ride of prog, post rock, and otherwise innovative music with our friends & family.”
