Ninajirachi has continued the rollout for her debut studio album I Love My Computer, sharing its latest single ‘Infohazard’. She co-wrote and co-produced the song with longtime collaborator Darcy Baylis, with the origins of the song stemming back to a songwriting session from early 2020. “The first version was just some chords and drums,” said Ninajirachi in a press statement.
“I wrote the lyrics much later, and we revisited it all in another session. The track went through a lot of changes, but those chords never left; they were always kind of the anchor. Darcy is such a chords master; I’m so grateful he contributed to three songs on this album.” The producer and DJ also noted that the song, thematically, dealt with a “loss of innocence moment” in which she encountered a snuff film online for the first time as a young teenager. “It’s kind of like a rite of passage,” she said.
“I love my computer for a million reasons, but it’s also exposed me to some pretty dubious material when I was far too young to see it. If I’d been in high school a hundred years ago, without ever touching a computer, would I even know things like that existed? I can’t ever really forget about it.” A music video has also been shared for ‘Infohazard’, directed by Aria Zarzycki; it can be viewed below.
