Canadian singer and songwriter Rogan Mei shares his brand new single Lefroy, a hopeful and heart-pulling indie folk track about self-discovery, resilience, and return.
Out now via Scarlett Line Records, Lefroy is a gentle piece of music anchored in quiet emotion but expansive in imagery, setting the tone for a soothing and warm listening experience. Inspired by a painting of Mt. Lefroy by Lawren Harris, Lefroy emerged as a metaphor for personal reckoning. I am really enjoying the tone of his voice and how it effortlessly radiates with raw emotion and soul from start to finish. Accompanying his lovely vocals we have lush strings nicely intertwined with steady drums and delicate guitar plucks that come together to create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere!
As we stood looking at this mountain, I imagined myself climbing it. The first line and melody just popped into my head, and I wrote the rest in the days that followed. Everything (except the female vocals) was recorded in the same room, by people I know, playing real instruments. Very few records are made that way anymore.
