London-based singer-songwriter and producer BVDHI (pronounced ‘boo-dee’) announces Rock Steady, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming debut album.
Entirely written, composed and produced by BVDHI herself, Rock Steady is a song that captures the emotional chaos of being in an all-consuming love that you can’t let go of, even though you know it’s not good for you. A message that is flawlessly conveyed through her smooth, yearning vocal delivery and harmonies that glide effortlessly over the soothing production. I am very fond of the finger-picked guitar and how it is nicely intertwined with layered arrangements of delicate synths, steady, groovy rhythms and drums that come together to create an overall warm, laid-back atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone.
It’s a song written from the perspective of being caught in a relationship that might not be good for you. It’s about being in something that’s destructive but perhaps also addicting because of it. You lose yourself in obsession and hedonism, always driving forwards towards the pain of pleasure and chaos.
