Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan’s new project for Apple TV+ is close to release, with the streamer ramping up teasers for the forthcoming sci-fi series.
Apple TV+ first acquired the rights to Gilligan’s next series almost three years ago and it is expected to premiere later this year.
More details are imminent, if a teaser from the streamer is anything to go by. It dropped a cryptic video on YouTube featuring a countdown and the tagline ‘Happiness is Contagious’. The countdown will expire on July 25 at 8pm UK time.
The series’ title has not yet been revealed, but it will star Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn. It has been billed as a sci-fi drama compared to The Twilight Zone, while further details remain under wraps.

Deadline previously said that it would be set in our world and would explore human nature in a way that would be “thought-provoking but not a morality tale”.
In 2023, Gilligan told Variety that, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the action unfolds in Albuquerque. “The world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different,” Gilligan said. “And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.”
Thanks to the success of his previous projects, the show was of interest to several studios and went through several rounds of bidding.

On July 18, the Vids That Go Hard X (formerly Twitter) account remarked: “Breaking Bad fans got PhDs in meme creation”. The post, which gained over 48million views, prompted a slew of replies featuring images of the characters in various situations.
Fans immediately offered many different images and videos. They included a clip where the character Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz) is edited into the final battle of Avengers: Endgame; one featuring series favourites involved in a Mario Kart battle; and a person who has used Walter’s famous “Say My Name” line as a means of unlocking their computer.
