Ozzy Osbourne’s isolated vocals on ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’, recorded at his final live show, have been shared. Check it out below.

The death of the heavy metal pioneer and iconic Black Sabbath frontman was announced yesterday (July 22). His family said in a statement that the 76-year-old music icon was “surrounded by love” at the time of his passing.

It came shortly after he took to the stage for the huge ‘Back To The Beginning’ gig in Birmingham on July 5 – marking his final show both as a solo artist and with Black Sabbath.

During that gig, Ozzy played just a handful of songs and remained seated throughout the set due to health issues. One of the more touching performances on the night was his rendition of his ballad, ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’.

The song was shared as part of his sixth solo album ‘No More Tears’, which was released in November 1991. After it was played at the Birmingham show earlier this month, content creator and vocal coach Dimitris Barmpas shared a version showing the singer’s isolated vocals.

In the audio, Osbourne’s voice is heard dry and practically free of any effects, and has a frail, but powerful feeling to it. It also takes on a darker, more sombre tone when isolated from the instruments surrounding it, and the poignant lyrics stand out.

“This isn’t about pitch perfection. It’s about presence,” Barmpas said (via Consequence). “[It’s] About the courage to say goodbye, in the only way a true legend can — with heart wide open.” Check it out below.

As well as seeing the last performance from Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler all together, that massive show also boasted a star-studded line-up, including Guns N’ Roses, KoRn, Tool, Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. It soon went on to become the highest-grossing charity concert of all time, bringing in just under £200million for good causes.

Following news of Ozzy’s passing, countless tributes have since poured in from across the music world, including messages from his former bandmates Iommi, Ward and Butler.

The likes of Ghost, Alice Cooper, and Gojira have paid their respects to Osbourne too, while fans have been sharing footage and memories from the legendary artist’s final performances.

Other tributes have come from the likes of Elton John, Yungblud, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Jack White and many more.
