Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi and Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten were spotted hanging out together in Mayo, Ireland over the weekend.

The friends reportedly went on a 90-minute cruise together along the Galway-Mayo border on Saturday (July 19), before the news was shared by the staff working on the Killary Fjord tour.

Taking to Facebook, they shared a post showing Chatten and Capaldi with members of staff. “Even celebrities can’t resist these views,” they wrote in the caption.“Yesterday, we welcomed the legendary Lewis Capaldi and Fontaines D.C. aboard, soaking up the magic of Killary Fjord.”

They also shared a photo of them with the crew. “After all the excitement of having Lewis Capaldi and Fontaines D.C. aboard this weekend, here’s the money shot, as captured by crew member Sinead,” the caption read.

Fans were quick to point out that Sam Fender was in the photograph too, standing towards the centre wearing all-black.

Others around the area saw them over the weekend as well, and one fan called Mallory called into radio station Today FM to share that she had spotted Capaldi while she was on shift at Tesco.

“I was just coming off my lunch break. I looked in the alcohol section and I spotted him,” she said, adding that he was eating crisps at the time. “I walked up to see if it was him, and I froze. I was just so starstruck,” she added, sharing a photo of them together and describing him as “so nice and so sweet”.

On X/Twitter, someone else shared a photo of the three of them sitting in a pub together around the same time. It showed Chatten playing a guitar while Fender and Capaldi appeared to be singing together.

All three artists will return to Ireland later this year for their respective live shows. For Chatten, he will be performing with Fontaines D.C. at All Together Now on August 1, while Fender will be there for a headline slot at Electric Picnic on August 30.

Lewis Capaldi will be in Dublin on September 29 and 30 for two sold-out shows at the 3Arena.

For the latter, the shows mark his return to the stage after taking time out to focus on his mental health. The decision was sparked after he performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2023, but had to cut his set short as his Tourette’s syndrome caused a tic attack that interfered with his voice. He would go on to recall how it felt like “the lowest moment of my life” in an interview with Theo Von.

Capaldi returned to Glastonbury this year and played a secret set on the same stage.

He then released a powerful new single ‘Survive’, marking his first new material since the extended edition of his 2023 album ‘Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent’, and then teamed up with BetterHelp to provide 734,000 hours of free online therapy to fans.

For Chatten, the time with Fender and Capaldi in Mayo comes after Fontaines D.C. played their biggest headline show to date at Finsbury Park on July 5. They were joined by Kneecap, Amyl & The Sniffers, Blondshell, Been Stellar and Cardinals.

As for Sam Fender, the Geordie singer-songwriter was recently confirmed to have boosted the local economy by £16.5million with his three homecoming shows at St. James’ Park last month. Since then, he has had to pull out of stops at Montreux Jazz Festival and other European festivals due to a vocal haemorrhage.
