Drake has reacted to his crowd chanting “fuck Kendrick” while performing in Birmingham.

The moment took place as the five-time Grammy winner took to the stage at the Utilita Arena for the first of his ‘$ome $pecial $ongs 4 UK’ tour dates.

On Sunday (July 20), the Canadian rapper kicked off the first of his three shows at the venue. It was held following his explosive feud with Kendrick Lamar last year, and based on the audience’s response, it appears that fans haven’t forgotten about the beef.

At one point in the show, the crowd could be heard chanting “fuck Kendrick” – leading to the rapper addressing the 2024 rap battle. “Alright, alright, alright,” he began, before quipping, “I can’t say that I don’t agree.”

The rap battle saw the two rappers go head-to-head and release numerous diss tracks in quick succession last summer. One of the most successful was Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’, which went on to win him five Grammys.

The song was also played live during K.Dot’s Super Bowl Halftime show in New Orleans, which became the most-watched Halftime show in history and surpassed Michael Jackson’s appearance with over 133.5million viewers.

It also sparked backlash from Drizzy, who filed multiple lawsuits against Lamar’s claims in the song, including the lyric suggesting that Drake “likes ‘em young”. Check out the timeline of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud here.

At his opening UK co-headline show with PARTYNEXTDOOR this weekend, Drake kicked off his set with renditions of ‘GIMME A HUG’ – marking the live debut – as well as ‘Marvins Room’, ‘Teenage Fever’, Passionfruit’, ‘Jungle’ and ‘What Did I Miss?’

Later in the set, he broke out a cover of Travis Scott’s track ‘SICKO MODE’, Lil Wayne’s ‘Love Me’ and ‘Who Told You’ by J.Hus. He also gave ‘Blue Green Red’ a live debut in Birmingham, and played ‘Fancy’ for the first time since 2015.

The show came after Drake made a headline appearance at Wireless 2025 this summer, and divided fans with the length of his set. He also used the appearance to hint at a collaboration with Central Cee.

NME’s Kyann-Sian Williams gave the show a three-star review and described it as “expertly curated, but [lacking] conviction”.

“For all the scale and all the stats – most Billboard Number Ones, most streamed rapper ever, the fastest-selling Wireless edition in history – this should’ve been Drake’s victory lap, reminding us why he earned all his success,” it read. “Instead, it feels like a man floating above his own myth, still chasing the love he’s already received. The Boy became a man, sure – but Drake’s record-breaking Wireless residency feels like he’s yet to grow up.”
