    Chappell Roan appears to be teasing her next single, 'The Subway'

    Chappell Roan is seemingly gearing up to release a new single, ‘The Subway’, soon.

    Yesterday (July 23), a teaser, uploaded via a fan page on Instagram, shows a moving truck with a license plate reading ‘THE SBWY’ as it drives down a road.

    Chappell Roan’s signature red hair blows in the wind as the vehicle passes a Saskatchewan road sign. A snippet of the song plays in the preview, and sees Roan singing: “I made a promise / if in four months these feelings ain’t gone / well, fuck this city / I’m moving to Saskatchewan.”

    But that’s not all. Eagle-eyed fans of the former NME cover star noticed posters and ads pop up across the city, teasing her ‘The Subway’. The posters read “Going through a break up? Get bangs!” and include an image of her with a small rat in her hair, as well as a major hint in the form of a bread clip that reads: “Best before August 1”.

    While official confirmation has yet to be made by the singer, fans are now speculating that ‘The Subway’ is scheduled for release on August 1.

    The official release of ‘The Subway’ has been a long time coming – she first debuted the track while performing at Governor’s Ball in New York last year. At Primavera Sound this year, she played it once again and this time told fans that they’d be hearing it soon.

    In March, Chappell Roan released her first single of the year, ‘The Giver’. The country-tinged track was also a long-teased tune, with her performing it on SNL all the way back in November last year.

    Since it was shared, Roan provided fans with an update on her highly anticipated sophomore album. “New album? Great question. We’re so beyond… so beyond far away from that, I could not even tell you,” she said.

    The upcoming release will follow on from her upcoming headline slot at the 2025 edition of Reading & Leeds. These will be held on August 22 and 23 respectively, and see her top this year’s bill alongside Travis Scott, Bring Me The Horizon and Hozier.

    After Reading & Leeds, she’ll perform another massive outdoor show in the UK – she’ll headline the Summer Sessions concert series at the Royal Highlands Showgrounds in Edinburgh on August 26. Visit here for tickets.
