Gwyneth Paltrow has become a temporary spokesperson for Astronomer, the tech firm at the heart of the viral Coldplay “kiss cam” incident.

Footage of a Coldplay concert started going viral last week when the regular segment of the band’s ‘Music Of The Spheres’ show at the Gillette Stadium near Boston appeared to catch Astronomer boss Andy Byron with his arms around a woman.
When they saw themselves on the big screen, they appeared mortified, and Byron immediately lunged out of the shot, while the woman held her head in her hands. Many reports speculated that the woman in question was Kristin Cabot, the HR chief of Astronomer.
Frontman Chris Martin said as the couple were shown on the screens: “Oh, look at these two. Come on, you’re OK. Oh what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
More footage of the incident later emerged, with Martin adding: “Oh shit, I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

Now, Astronomer have issued a response to the situation, enlisting Paltrow, who used to be married to Martin.
In a video shared to Twitter/X yesterday (July 25), the actress is seen sitting at a desk and thanking the public for their interest in Astronomer.
“I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” she said in the new clip. “Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days – and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.”
A question is then typed out on the screen that reads: “OMG, what the actual…”
Before the final word appears, the video cuts back to Paltrow, who goes on to promote some of the services Astronomer offers. She continues: “We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation.”
Another question then pops up on the screen, which begins to type out: “How is your social media team holding up?”
But, before the sentence fully appears, Paltrow interrupts to say that Astronomer still has spaces at an upcoming conference in September.
“We’ll now be returning to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers,” she adds at the end of the video.
Paltrow and Martin announced their divorce in 2014, issuing a statement saying they were ”consciously uncoupling” after seven years of marriage.

Days after the clip went viral, it was revealed that Byron has resigned from Astronomer in the wake of the incident. He had served as CEO of the company since 2023, while Cabot allegedly joined as Chief People Officer nine months ago.
Yesterday (July 25), it was announced that Cabot has also stepped down from her role as chief people officer.
The same evening that Byron’s resignation was announced, Martin, while not directly referring to the incident, did joke about the situation at another concert: “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen. How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen.
He added: “Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now!”
The moment has become something of a pop culture phenomenon, with a video game inspired by the viral couple now available to play, and Liam Gallagher joking about the incident at a recent Oasis gig, telling fans not to “worry” as there’s no cameras zooming into the crowd at their gigs.
The US leg of the tour comes just before Coldplay head over to the UK for a handful of shows, with £1 from every ticket sold being donated to support grassroots venues.
Ahead of the shows, it was announced that a shuttle bus named after Coldplay’s hit ‘Yellow’ will carry fans to two ‘Music Of The Spheres’ shows in Hull next month. The concerts also include multiple stops at Wembley Stadium from August 22 to September 8.
