Australian rave royalty Confidence Man have joined chaotic forces with UK pop queen JADE (yep, that JADE from Little Mix) to unleash a weaponised glitter bomb of a track called ‘gossip’ — which is putting itself in hot contention for the most savage banger of the summer.
‘gossip’ is three minutes of snarky, strutting dance-pop perfection. It’s like acid house meets schoolyard taunts meets a Vogue runway, engineered to get stuck in your head while simultaneously starting drama in the group chat.
Confidence Man & JADE – ‘gossip’
“Talk shit, get a hit,” Confidence Man declared in a press statement about the sassy release. “There’s been a lot of chat going round but we can finally give you the truth of it. ‘gossip’ is here and god it tastes good. JADE put the cherry on top of this pop sundae and we can’t stop eating.”
he track made its surprise live debut at Glastonbury, during JADE’s jam-packed Woodsies Stage set, where the Conf Man crew gate-crashed with a brand new routine. Festival-goers had already been spotting “Tina says you’re a c***” signs all weekend — catapulting the song’s lyrics into TikTok infamy (over 6 million views) before the full tune even dropped.
‘gossip’ marks yet another high point for Confidence Man, who’ve been on a downright sickening hot streak. This year alone, they’ve teamed up with Eliza Rose for ‘I HEART YOU’, snatched Best Breakthrough Artist at the BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards, and scored a BRITs nomination for International Group of the Year. Not to mention the mayhem they unleashed at Glasto, including a rogue 1am Stonebridge set where JADE popped up again.
Formed in Brisbane and now based in London, Confidence Man are the sparkly lovechild of rave culture, queer nightlife and theatre kid energy. Fronted by Janet Planet and Sugar Bones, Confidence Man are soaring off the back of their latest album 3AM (LA LA LA).
As for JADE? She’s in her main pop girl era. In just 10 months, she’s racked up 190M+ streams, a BRIT Award, and an Ivor Novello nom, thanks to breakout solo anthem ‘Angel Of My Dreams’.
You can take their outrageous new collab ‘gossip’ for a spin up above.
