3% have shared their second new single of 2025, ‘Running Through My Head’. The follow-up to ‘Our Greats’ from just last month sees the Indigenous hip-hop trip enlist Sydney-based pop singer Sarah Wolfe for the song’s chorus, which interpolates t.A.t.U.’s 2002 smash hit ‘All The Things She Said’. In a press statement, member Dallas Woods said that 3% have “developed an appetite for flipping iconic tracks” – alluding to their debut single ‘Our People’, which flipped The Presets‘ ‘My People’.
“Thematically, we’ve made it our own in true 3% style,” he said. “There are certain moments when words are said that hit differently – no amount of apologies or good intentions can change how deeply they cut or land. Some things keep running repeatedly through your head. This track is an outlet – made for anyone who’s ever felt that weight. We find strength and solidarity in each other.”
Wolfe, for her part, said that it was “an honour” to work with the group in bringing ‘Running Through My Head’ to life. “They are such a powerful voice in the Australian music scene, and getting to work with such passionate and hard-working people is an absolute dream. I’ve never had more fun on stage than when we’ve performed this track live, and I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
An accompanying music video for the single has also been shared, directed by Nick Rae. The clip features the three members of the group – Woods, Nooky and Angus Field – performing the song under a harsh strobe light, as well as traditional Indigenous dancers and the Victoria-based motorcycle group Southern Warriors. The video for ‘Running Through My Head’ can be viewed below.
3% – ‘Running Through My Head’
“‘Running Through My Head’ is one of those songs where everything just fell into place,” said Nooky in his own statement. “It happened in a moment when 3% was deciding what’s happening next with the crew. Me and Xav[ier Dunn, the song’s producer] were smashing through songs. We were in the studio for three days straight, doing at least six songs a day. One morning we smashed through two songs, then Xav played the ‘Running Through My Head’ beat and went to get a bottle of water.
“When he came back, I said, ‘Chuck me in’… and it was done. No long hours, no going back and forth over lyrics; it all just happened in the moment. Just a mad beat and freestyle over the top. You gotta capture these moments of energy, because it’s really hard to replicate sometimes.”
‘Running Through My Head’ also marks Wolfe’s second single of 2025, having released ‘The Past’ in February following a two-year hiatus from music due to issues with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. The Sydney-based singer has largely been working on video game soundtracks in recent years, with a composition entitled ‘Eternal Nights’ appearing in the game Solium Infernum in February 2024.
t.A.t.U. themselves, meanwhile, recently reunited to perform in Crimea last month – marking their first live show in over two years. The Russian duo have performed only three times since they disbanded in 2011. ‘All The Things She Said’ was the group’s biggest hit, topping the charts in Australia, the UK, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Switzerland – going six times Platinum globally.
Next Saturday, August 9th, 3% are up for four nominations at the 2025 National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs). At the Darwin ceremony, the trio are in contention for Artist Of The Year, Album Of The Year (for their 2024 debut album Kill The Dead) and both Song and Film Clip Of The Year for their Jessica Mauboy collaboration ‘Won’t Stop’. Meanwhile, Warninidlyakwa singer-songwriter Emily Wurramara and Yolŋu group the Andrew Gurruwiwi Band are also up for four nominations apiece.
