Pendulum have continued the rollout for their fourth studio album Inertia by sharing its sixth single, ‘Cannibal’. The track is a collaboration with the UK electro-rock duo Wargasm, marking the first time the two groups have worked together. In a press statement, the band’s frontman and co-founder Rob Swire noted that he’d “been listening to [Wargasm] for ages” prior to them linking up in person.
“When we finally met, I asked about their influences – and as soon as they started talking, it felt familiar,” he said. “Atari Teenage Riot, The Prodigy, all that stuff. Even though our sounds are pretty different, it was clear we came from the same place.” An accompanying music video has been shared for ‘Cannibal’, directed by Chris Wade, which depicts Wargasm and Swire performing the song together in an abandoned factory against a multitude of video screens. Pendulum & Wargasm – ‘Cannibal’
‘Cannibal’ is the latest in a string of singles that the Perth-born and UK-based band have shared from Inertia since 2023. That year, the band shared ‘Halo’, which featured Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck, as well as ‘Colourfast’ and the Scxrlord-assisted ‘Mercy Killing’. This was followed in 2024 by ‘Napalm’, with Joey Valence & Brae, and ‘Save The Cat’ earlier this year.
Intertia is set for release on Friday, August 22nd, having been formally announced back in May. It marks their fourth album, and first in 15 years following 2010’s Immersion. Its tracklist combines both their Elemental and Anima EPs, which were released in 2021 and 2023 respectively, along with five new songs. Ahead of the album release, the band will play the biggest headlining show of their career at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes on Saturday, August 9th to some 65,000 people.
