Rosalía has responded to the fashion designer who refused to work with her due to her lack of public support for Palestine.

Miguel Adrover recently took to social media to share that he had turned down an offer to design a custom-made dress for the singer, with his team explaining that the designer “doesn’t work with any artist who doesn’t publicly support Palestine.”

He also shared a caption saying that “silence is complicity, and even more so when you have a big microphone where millions of people listen to you when you sing,” and added that those in the public eye “have the responsibility to use this power to denounce this genocide.”

Now, the Spanish singer has responded to the comments and said that the pressure for change should be pointed “upwards”, to those in government who have the power to make concrete change.

“I have followed with great sadness what has been said in recent days,” she began. “The fact that I have not used my platform in line with other people’s style or expectations does not mean that I do not condemn what is happening in Palestine.”

“It is terrible to see innocent people being killed day after day, and those who should stop this are not doing so,” she added. “I do not see how shaming each other is the best way to move forward in the fight for Palestinian freedom.

“The fingers should be pointed upwards (towards those who make decisions and have the power to act) and not horizontally (between us).”

It is worth noting that Adrover outlined that his statement was “nothing personal” against Rosalía.

“I admire you for all your talent and for everything you’ve achieved,” he said. “And I think you are much more than those artists who only dedicate themselves to show business and entertainment. Now we have to do ‘The Right Thing.’”

After the initial post, some fans took to social media to share how the singer apparently spoke out in support of Palestine back in 2023.

Taking to Instagram Stories, she shared a post in October of that year with an appeal from UNICEF. This referenced the shortages of food in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis, and encouraged people to make donations.
