The heavy metal pioneer frontman died last month (July 22) at age 76. In a statement, his family shared that he was “surrounded by love” at the time of his passing. His death came just weeks after he played a final live show in his hometown, and raised “a ton” of money for charity along the way.

Since his passing, thousands of fans have taken to the streets of Birmingham to leave flowers and emotional tributes to the Black Sabbath icon, and thousands more lined the streets on July 31 for the funeral procession. Ozzy was laid to rest at a private ceremony in Buckinghamshire, which was attended by Elton John, members of Metallica and more.

Now, Consequence has reported that a 45-year old man, Parviz Jafari, has been arrested and charged with theft after West Midlands Police officers were alerted that flowers were taken from the Broad Street memorial.

Jafari was arrested earlier this month (August 2), and is currently scheduled to appear in court on September 3.

It was announced earlier this month (August 6), that the flowers and tributes laid in central Birmingham for the late Black Sabbath icon are being preserved by the Central Bid Birmingham to be sent to the late singer’s family.

It has since been revealed that Ozzy’s death certificate lists the cause of death as a heart attack, while also mentioning that he was suffering from a coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s. It also listed his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend”.

The exhibition ‘Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero’, which showcases his most prestigious international honours, will remain open at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery until January 2026. Additionally, a biopic of Ozzy and Sharon’s lives is in the works at Sony Pictures, with negotiations with a director ongoing. The project was first announced in 2021.

As well as the army band, tributes have also come from the likes of Zak Starkey, Adam Sandler, Ghost’s Tobias Forge, Alice Cooper, Elton John, Yungblud, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jack White, Coldplay, Gojira and Jake E Lee.
