Orlando Bloom has said he would like to see a full Pirates Of The Caribbean reunion with Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp.
Bloom, who starred as Will Turner in the first, second, third and fifth Disney adventure films, made the admission at the recent 2025 edition of Fan Expo Chicago.
“Everything is in the writing, right? Everything is on the page, and I think there’s definitely, I’m sure there’s a way to create something,” he said via Entertainment Weekly. “I would personally love to see everybody back. I think the way to win on that one is to get everybody back. If they can, and if everybody wanted to go back.”
He added: “My thing is, if the script was great and – ideally it was everybody – it’d be kind of like in for a penny, in for a pound, you know.”
Disney are currently rebooting the franchise and Bloom gave his thoughts on which direction it may go.
“What they’re thinking…is how to do it. Do you bring in a female leading character that replicates Jack in some way? I don’t know. The jury is out on how to do it again, but if [the script] was great [I’d be in],” Bloom said.
His comments come after Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently said he’s open to Depp returning for the planned reboot. The new film is said to combine a new cast with characters from the original movies, which Bruckheimer hopes will include Depp’s character Jack Sparrow.
“If (Depp) likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it,” he said of the actor’s involvement. “It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know. It’s a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it, I love him.”
Following his legal battle with Amber Heard, Depp was dropped from the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and the actor has not appeared in a big-budget studio film since.
In 2022, Depp won a defamation case against Heard, awarding him $10million (£8million) in compensatory damages and $5million (£3.7million) in punitive damages. The jury found that Heard’s statements about her marriage were “false” and that she acted with “actual malice”.
In terms of the progress of the upcoming movies, Bruckheimer added: “We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven’t quite gotten there yet, but we’re close”.
