Five have announced that they will return to Australia in 2026, as part of their Keep On Movin’ world tour. For the first time in 26 years, the UK boy band will be numerically accurate on their Australian run of dates in May, as all five members have returned for the world tour – including Jason “J” Brown, who left in 2007 following a reunion the year prior, and Abz Love, who left in 2014 following their reunion in 2012. The full list of tour dates and ticketing information can be found below.
“This has been a long time coming, and it really does feel right for all of us now,” said member Scott Robinson in press statement announcing the tour. “25 years on and we’re so ready for it. Reconnecting as Five over the last year has been special, and I know I speak for all the boys when I say we can’t wait to do this all over again. Hope you’re ready.”
The group first teased the tour announcement with two billboards that were spotted in Melbourne, located looking over the Yarra River and inside Flinders Street train station respectively. Yesterday (August 21st), they shared a video of a staged group chat between the members, in which Scott Robinson said that the boy band was “overdue for a holiday overseas together”. “Where should we go?” he wrote, to which member Ritchie Neville responded: “Let’s go to Australia.”
“I lived there for years, and have been meaning to show you all around,” he continued. “If ya gettin down under,” replied Brown – playing on the band’s 1998 hit ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’. “Let’s do it.” Love concurred, adding that they should visit New Zealand as well – which will also be part of the group’s world tour itinerary. “You all free next May?” he wrote, while the song ‘Keep On Movin” played.
Five – ‘Keep On Movin”
Five announced a reunion with all five original members back in February, having not been at full strength since their initial split in 2001. Their 2006 reunion took place without Sean Conlon, but he ultimately opted to return when the group staged a second reunion in 2012 – this time without Brown. Two years in, Love also left the group and turned Five into a three-piece. The surviving members continued on under the moniker, even releasing a new album entitled Time in 2022.
The group enjoyed considerable success in Australia during their heyday, with both 1998’s Five and 1999’s Invincible being certified triple Platinum by ARIA. They also scored eight top-10 singles between 1998 and 2001, with both ‘When The Lights Go Out’ and ‘If Ya Gettin Down’ peaking at number two. Neville ultimately relocated to Australia in 2004, working as a sommelier and later as a restaurateur in Sydney. He left Australia in 2009, relocating back to the UK and later rejoining Five.
After first touring in April and May of 2000, Five would not return for another 13 years. They brought their Greatest Hits tour down under in November 2013, before returning for the package nostalgia tour Poptastic! in 2019 alongside fellow turn-of-the-century UK pop acts S Club and Big Brovaz. They would then return in both 2022 and 2024, the latter with Australia’s Sister2Sister in support.
