Secondhand Serenade has announced his return to Australia, with a whirlwind 72-hour visit slated for the backend of 2025. The American acoustic-alternative singer-songwriter will perform three shows in three days on the country’s east coast, on a show that is being billed as 20 Year Anniversary: A Secondhand Symphony. In it, Secondhand Serenade’s debut studio album Awake will be played in its entirety, accompanied by a string section. The full tour details can be found below.

Awake is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, having been originally released in October of 2025. Project figurehead John Vesely distributed the album completely independently, being one of the first singer-songwriters to cultivate a following on the then-burgeoning prospect of social media – namely MySpace, with which Secondhand Serenade’s music is most closely associated. Songs such as ‘Fall For You’ and ‘Your Call’ were popular “profile songs”, which are what would play when you visited someone’s profile on the website. The album was eventually re-released in 2007.

Vesely was last in Australia in late 2009, touring the country as main support for The Fray on their theatre tour supporting their self-titled second album. By this point, there was a second album under the Secondhand Serenade moniker – that being A Twist In My Story, which was released in 2008 and cracked the top ten of the Billboard Independent Albums chart. There have been a further two Secondhand Serenade albums since then: 2010’s Hear Me Now and 2014’s Undefeated.
