M.I.A. has announced two shows away from her upcoming appearance at Harvest Rock Festival in Adelaide this October. The Sri Lankan rapper and singer is set to perform at the Forum Theatre in Melbourne on Sunday, October 26th – the day after her slated appearance at Harvest Rock – before heading to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Wednesday, October 29th. Ticketing information is below.

The shows will mark her first in Australia since 2018, when she performed on the new-year’s festival circuit with sets at Lost Paradise and Origin Fields. They will also mark her first headlining shows in Australia for over a decade, having last done those back in 2013 while in the country for Summadayze Festival alongside The Chemical Brothers, Mark Ronson, Kimbra and Disclosure.

    M.I.A. – ‘Bucky Done Gun’

Since M.I.A. was last in Australia, she has released her sixth studio album Mata. Released in October 2022, the album included the singles ‘The One’, ‘Popular’ and ‘Beep’. She has also released two new singles this year, entitled ‘Armour’ and ‘Safe’. The decade thus far, however, has seen much more media attention on her pivot into a conspiracy theorist. She has used her platform to express easily-disproven views on the impact of COVID-19 vaccines and, more infamously, 5G cellular network technology on both social media and on conservative talk shows such as The Alex Jones Show.

A pre-sale for M.I.A.’s headlining shows in Sydney and Melbourne will go live tomorrow on Monday, September 1st at 10am AEST. General sale will then follow on Tuesday, September 2nd at 12pm AEST. Both sales can be accessed via the tour’s official promoter, Secret Sounds, on their website.
