The man who impersonated Donald Trump in a recent episode of South Park has opened up about being uncredited on the show, saying he asked for recognition from the show’s creators.

At the end of the show’s recent season 27 premiere, a live-action version of Trump is seen in the desert as he strips naked and reveals a small animated penis.

The man who portrayed the US president, Dennis Alan, has now spoken about the cameo, revealing that it was filmed five years ago as part of a separate project with show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

“I asked South Park about crediting me and they said I should use the emails between us where I arranged for the re-use of the footage,” he told Metro.

    A little behind the scenes.

“Accreditation would be a double-edged sword for me because I try to ride the line where I’m enjoyed by Trump supporters and people who are anti-Trump,” he then admitted. “I don’t do political rallies, I usually make myself available for things that are funny.

“Trump himself has come out and made comments about that episode which are not supportive. On one hand I’m OK with Trump supporters not necessarily knowing that it’s me. With anti-Trump people I’m able to show them I’m willing to participate in this type of media.”

He further revealed that he “got an email” from the show bosses days before the episode aired requesting if they could used a minute of the footage.

“I was so glad to hear from them, I said ‘sure, no problem’, and the impact of it didn’t really register with me until after the episode.”

Some argued that the footage was AI, which led to the show posting behind-the-scenes pictures to clarify that it wasn’t, Alan adding: “Without those photos, people would still be arguing it was AI. This performance went viral worldwide, yet I’m invisible in the credits.

“It’s not the first time. My image has been used prominently before without credit. If it weren’t for my agent pushing my name out there, I’d still be a ghost in my own career.”

South Park has mocked Trump throughout the season, including a depiction of him in bed with Satan and also showing the US president with a micro penis. This lead to the White House attacking the show, and Parker and Stone subsequently made a mock apology in response.

The series also told the US Homeland Security department to “eat a bag of dicks” after the latter used a South Park still to promote I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) recruitment.

Last month, the show’s creators shared an unaired clip depicting United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem opening fire in a pet store after she criticised the series.
