King Black Acid, a collective of musicians arranged and orchestrated by founding member Daniel Riddle, team up with fellow musicians/producers Birdie Moon from France and Daisy Rhae Swann hailing from Iceland (Birdie Swann Sisters) to deliver Hurricane, a hazy, psychedelic gem taken from their upcoming album Dream School Dropout.
Hurricane is a song about the chaos within someone that struggles with inner turmoil and destructive tendencies. Despite all the wreckage caused, there’s still a longing for connection and love, though it comes with danger and fear. A passionate song that is beautifully conveyed through smooth, expressive vocals that soar effortlessly over the polished production. I am particularly fond of the chorus and how infectious and perfect to sing along to it is. Apart from the vocals and addictive chorus, I am very fond of the bright, glitchy electronics nicely intertwined with lush guitar plucks, steady drum beats and hazy synths that come together to create an overall warm, dreamy atmosphere with psychedelic touches. This gem is accompanied by a striking music video, filmed by Kat Perkins, Jeremiah L. Scott and Daniel Riddle, which you can check out below!
