Lady Gaga fans have taken to social media to express disappointment following her very brief appearance in Wednesday.

The first season of the show centred on the morose teen at the heart of the Addams Family and proved to be a huge hit for Netflix, becoming the streamer’s biggest English-language series of all time.

The first half of the second season arrived in August, and on Wednesday (September 3), part two arrived, featuring a cameo performance from Lady Gaga as the ghost of Rosaline Rotwood, whom Jenna Ortega‘s Wednesday approaches for help with her ailing psychic abilities.

While her screentime was memorable, recalling the spooky visuals of bleach blonde American Horror Story character with a Tim Burton-esque bent, it only clocked in at around 3 minutes, much to the frustration of fanswho said using her so heavily in promotion but then giving her such little screentime was “diabolical”.

can you believe they hyped lady gaga’s role in wednesday only for her to have 2 minutes of screen time including that horrendous cgi scene pic.twitter.com/F7cfRf9JsD

Netflix using Gaga to market the shit out of Wednesday season 2 only for her to have one minute and fifty seconds of screen time is DIABOLICAL.

My full review of Lady Gaga in Wednesday Season 2

While brief, her cameo was BRILLIANT & her character proved to be quite significant! She only appeared in two scenes, but she ate them UP and her character was referenced well beyond her screentime

Not gonna lie all this promo for gaga only for her to have supposedly 1 or 2 scenes in Wednesday is CRAZY to me. You have gaga who FITS the show and you cannot execute her and use her to the full potential? I’m gonna be Mad if she has like 5 minutes of screen time

To accompany her appearance in the show, Gaga has released the new single ‘The Dead Dance’, along with a haunting new video, which you can check out below.

Speaking at the season two premiere, Gaga explained (via Rolling Stone): “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even just being a small part of the show. I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna [Ortega], and everyone here, it’s so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm my song ‘The Dead Dance’ is coming.”

News of her joining Ortega for the sophomore season was confirmed in November last year, and the news followed fans recreating Ortega’s viral dance from the show set to the singer’s 2011 track ‘Bloody Mary’ – a trend Gaga herself got involved in.

Ortega opened up about working with Gaga while at SXSW this spring, saying: “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

“Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange. I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity,” Ortega continued.

In a four-star review of the first part of season two, NME wrote: “A frantic mid-season finale sets things up for an explosive return in September, which will also see the arrival of Lady Gaga’s Rosaline Rotwood. Perhaps that next batch of episodes will take the beloved series to new places after part one sticks carefully to the familiar, if successful, formula.”
