The Belair Lip Bombs have lifted a second single from their forthcoming debut studio album Again, entitled ‘Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair)’. The song has been part of the band’s live repertoire for just over a year, having originally been performed on 2024’s Jerry Can And A Van tour, and follows on from the release of the album’s lead single ‘Hey You’ last month.
In a press statement, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Maisie Everett revealed that she began writing the song inspired by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, using his unique five-string open guitar tuning that loses the high E string and plays a G major chord when strummed openly. Later inspiration came from a conversation with fellow Melbourne musician Alex Lahey, not long after Everett had left her post as bassist for Clamm in order to focus on the Lip Bombs full time.
“I had a really inspiring conversation with her that day,” said Everett. “We talked about all things music – [especially] the different challenges that she’d had to overcome in her musical career. I remember her saying to me, ‘you have to make your own luck’. I don’t know why, but it really stuck with me. You have to believe in yourself and you have to always work hard, but the hard work only works if you believe in yourself at the same time.” An accompanying music video has also been shared for the single, which was co-directed by Everett with Angus Fielder; it can be viewed below.

Again is set for release on Friday, October 31st via Third Man Records – marking their first release on the Jack White-founded label, not to mention the first Australian release on the label overall. It follows on from the Melbourne alternative rock band touring nationally as main support for King Stingray earlier this year, alongside Beddy Rays, as well as the band’s current international jaunt through North America as main support for Perth pop-rockers Spacey Jane. A European headlining tour comes next in the lead up to Again‘s release, with a homecoming national tour to be announced.
