September 12, 2025 marks exactly 50 years since Pink Floyd released their legendary Wish You Were Here, and Pale Wizard Records is honoring the milestone with a brand-new tribute album, Wish You Were Here – 50 Years Later.
The label has assembled an impressive lineup of international rock bands to reimagine the 1975 classic in its entirety. The project features Hippie Death Cult taking on “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V),” Mos Generator with “Welcome to the Machine,” Duskwood’s spin on “Have a Cigar,” High Desert Queen delivering the title track, and Sergeant Thunderhoof closing with “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX).” Bonus tracks include Urzah’s version of “Fearless” and Firegarden’s take on “Time,” available on CD and digital editions.
A Tribute with Heart
For Pale Wizard co-founders Dan Flitcroft and Tim Hilleard, Wish You Were Here has always been a personal favorite. Beyond its lush soundscapes, the album’s raw emotion and tribute to former bandmate Syd Barrett make it a cornerstone of progressive and psychedelic rock. “The beauty of this record lies in how deeply it connects to both personal loss and universal longing,” notes Flitcroft.
Pale Wizard Records is no stranger to ambitious projects. Their 50 Years Later series began in 2021 with Alice Cooper’s Killer, followed by tributes to David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Budgie’s Never Turn Your Back on a Friend, and Sparks’ Kimono My House. Each release is both a celebration and a reinvention, shining a spotlight on albums that shaped generations
