Taylor Swift thinks of ‘Eras Tour’ “every day” but has “no itch” to tour again soon

Taylor Swift has reflected on her massive ‘Eras Tour’, but revealed that she has no intention of heading out on the road again soon.

The pop giant released her 12th studio album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ today (Friday, October 3), following on from last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.

As Swift has explained, the LP explores “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life” during the record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’. Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, alongside Swift herself, the album was recorded in Sweden in between shows on the huge trek.

Speaking to Greg James on BBC Radio 1 this morning, Swift reflected on her experience of touring the world with the career-spanning, three-hour-plus concerts in 2023 and 2024, saying she “think[s] about it every day”.

“I had so much fun on that tour,” she said. “It was obviously the most exhausting challenge ever, physically. But I’ll never forget seeing what I saw – I could see everyone from the stage. I don’t think they know that. I have incredible vision.

“I could see [the crowd’s] experience and their joy, and that fed me. Like that fuelled me, even when I was exhausted and tired.”

When asked if she missed the strict and gruelling touring regime, Swift replied: “I am so good right now – my joints are good. I bake, I have hobbies again. I could only do the ‘Eras Tour’ when I was on the ‘Eras Tour’, and that’s two years of just having no other hobbies. So now I have the hobbies again.”

She added: “The fact that you could ever be a part of something like the ‘Eras Tour’… for me it feels like such an honour that the fans made it into what it was. Because it was truly astonishing for all of us who were on that tour. We were like, ‘What is going on?!’.

“It turned into something, very quickly, that exceeded any of our expectations for what the tour could have been […] I really did appreciate it in the moment, like I knew. I knew it was crazy, what was happening. We have never had anything happen like that.

“I’ve been with my band for a very long time – my crew, my touring family, my team – we’re all very close and have been forever. And none of us have ever had anything like that happen. We all were looking at each other the whole time going, ‘This is absolutely nuts’.”

James then asked Swift whether she had “the itch” to embark on another huge global tour soon. She responded: “No. I’m gonna be really honest with you. I am so tired, like when I think about doing it again. Because I would want to do it really well again, you know?”

You can watch the video interview in full above.

The ‘Eras Tour’ is currently the highest-grossing tour in music history, bringing in over $2billion worldwide. Swift sold over 10million tickets across 149 dates.

Over the summer, Travis Kelce has Travis Kelce praised his fiancée Swift’s stage performances, comparing her to an elite athlete. The NFL star said: “That is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she’s doing it three, four, five days in a row.”

In a glowing five-star review of the ‘Eras Tour’ concert, NME wrote: “Swift’s managed to craft a marvel of a show that comes with a beating heart.”

Fans have been reacting to and sharing their thoughts on ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ – which had become the first album to surpass five million pre-saves on Spotify, and broke a record that had previously been set by Swift.

Among the conversations is a theory that the song ‘Actually Romantic’ is a diss track aimed at Charli XCX.

Meanwhile, the cinematic release party for ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ recently grossed $15million (£11million) in pre-sales in just 24 hours. The film is expected to gross somewhere between $30million and $50million (£22.2million to £37million) across its three-day run (Friday October 3 to Sunday October 5).

Swift will make a return to The Graham Norton Show on BBC One tonight (October 3) to talk further about her new album.

The singer previously described the period that had inspired the LP as “so exuberant and electric and vibrant”, adding: “It just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life.”

She has also insisted that there are “no other songs coming” beyond the standard edition tracklist.
