Abbotsford, BC-based artist Unsystematic808 impresses on his debut full-length, Unsystematic — touting a bold fusion of electronic sounds, fit for both club-set danceability and late-night introspection. Known for his dual life as both producer and entrepreneur, Amos Anthony Singh — the artist behind the project — brings the same intensity that fuels his ventures into every beat, crafting dancefloor-ready soundscapes defined by restless experimentation and vivid emotion.
Opening track “Daylight” enamors with its pulsing vibrancy — pairing thumping bass and punchy rhythms with a stutter-y vocal sample, which navigates with seamlessly melodic cohesion. A blaring synth tone assumes prominence past the first minute, bolstered gradually by sturdy rhythms; the introductory track does well in establishing the artist’s knack for riveting, danceable soundscapes with neon-lit allure. The ensuing “Ride” achieves a more shadow-y intrigue initially, where murky atmospherics and debonair vocal samples intertwine; the evolution into a glimmering, dance-friendly synth infusion marks an infectious second half, continuing to showcase Unsystematic808’s dynamic tonal chops.
Another standout track, “8-BIT Dream” traverses from a dreamy playfulness into panting percussive elements — giving way to a second half with interacting layers of bursting synths. A similarly effervescent soundscape shows on “Snowfall,” whose glistening prowess and bouncy percussive elements result in an amiable, inviting sound. The aptly titled “Riffs of The Evening” struts a darker invigoration, as distorted guitar tones meld with chiptune-like electronics for an immersive success of a production. With Unsystematic, Unsystematic808 solidifies his vision as both innovator and architect of riveting electronic soundscapes — succeeding in both atmosphere and infectious danceability.
