    Alt-rock icons Garbage are officially coming home – announcing their first Australian headline shows since 2016. The beloved four-piece will hit Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney this December, in between their appearances at Good Things Festival 2025, delivering the kind of electric, era-spanning sets that have made them one of the most influential rock bands of the past three decades.

    Formed in Madison, Wisconsin, and fronted by the incomparable Shirley Manson, Garbage helped shape the sound of the late ’90s and early 2000s with their dark, glamorous fusion of rock, electronica and grunge. From ‘Only Happy When It Rains’ and ‘Stupid Girl’ to ‘I Think I’m Paranoid’ and ‘When I Grow Up’, their catalogue is a masterclass in grungy catharsis.

    “To be able to return to Australia – the home country of our most beloved music business guru, Michael Gudinski – is an immense thrill for us as a band,” says Manson. “This tour will be played every night in Gudinski’s honour.”

    These intimate summer shows will take place in ornate theatres, including a tour-closing performance at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, making this run a rare and special celebration. The tour arrives off the back of Garbage’s acclaimed eighth album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, praised for its tenderness, self-awareness and raw humanity.

    “This record is about what it means to be alive, and about what it means to face your imminent destruction,” says Manson. “It’s hopeful. It’s tender. It’s about how our flaws and failures are still beautiful.”

    Tickets go on sale Wednesday 22 October (1pm local) via frontiertouring.com/garbage, with Frontier Members presale kicking off Tuesday 21 October (10am local).
