Pop star Britney Spears believes “garbage literally is being said about me” as excepts from former husband Kevin Federline’s upcoming book continue to leak. In a lengthy post on Instagram that appeared on Sunday, October 19, Spears drew a connection between the trauma she experienced as described in her 2023 memoir “The Woman in Me” to the 2014 film “Maleficent” starring Angelina Jolie where the titular character has her wings clipped. Though the “Toxic” singer does not name Federline in the post, it comes about a week after a representative for the Princess of Pop says her ex is still attempting to profit off her through his new memoir, “You Thought You Knew,” which releases on Tuesday, October 21.
Spears admits that “brain damage happened to me”
“I had a traumatic experience as some of you know at the end of my book,” Spears writes on Instagram, “where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to anywhere.”
She explains that her prior posts of her dancing might have “seemed silly but it made me remember how to fly,” relating her journey to the story of Maleficent. The Instagram post comes paired with a photo of Spears with an open back and showing her shoulder blades as she rides a white horse. “I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent… I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I’m blessed to be alive.”
As for all the rumors swirling about her, the Princess of Pop writes, “It’s fun to tell stories at this point because this all might sound so silly but with what garbage literally is being said about me I said why not bring SUBSTANCE to the table.”
Leaks from Federline’s memoir question physical and mental state of his ex-wife. He writes that Spears is “racing towards something irreversible” and that “something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
Spears responded to the excerpts in a post on October 16 that she is “always being threatened or made to believe I’m in the bad one as they profit off my pain.” A representative for Spears told Page Six claims that “once again, [Kevin] and others are profiting off her” and that “sadly, it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.”
