Australian singer and songwriter Kirrilee shares her brand new single The View, a warm and melancholic blend of indie-pop and folk music.
What I like the most about this song is its emotional depth and how soothing the melodies are, making this song perfect for those introspective, laid-back days home alone. Written about a friend that was going through an awful, toxic relationship, The View is Kirrilee’s way of being there for her friend while she went through it. A heartfelt and personal storytelling that is beautifully conveyed through Kirrilee’s delicate, enchanting vocals and harmonies which are accompanied by intricate guitar riffs, subtle keys, dreamy synths and textures that come together to create a warm and intimate listening experience!
I wrote this song whilst watching my best friend go through a really awful relationship with someone who treated them like garbage, didn’t appreciate them and hurt them continuously. All I could do was be there for her whilst she went through this awful thing. After a particularly terrible interaction with the person, she called me — but I was house-sitting 3 hours away, so we could only talk on the phone whilst she cried. All I wanted to do was give her a hug and tell her it would be okay, but I couldn’t. So instead, after getting off the phone, I sat down and wrote this song for her.
