Bruce Springsteen has hit out at Donald Trump again following the recent protests against the US president.

The Boss was performing at a screening for the biopic Springsteen: Deliver From Nowhere at the AFI Fest when he spoke out against Trump.

“Outside, all hell is breaking loose in the United States,” Springsteen said. “For 250 years around the world, despite all the faults we had, the United States stood as a beacon of liberty and democracy and hope and freedom.”

He continued: “I’ve spent 50 years travelling as kind of a musical ambassador for America, and I’ve seen first hand all the love and the admiration that folks around the world have had for the America of our highest ideals.”

“Despite how terribly damaged America has been recently, that country and those ideals remain worth fighting for. I’m going to send this out as a prayer for America and for our unity and No Kings,” The Boss added.

The No Kings alliance held a mass day of protest across the US against Trump including in New York last weekend.

Their message is: “America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people. Now, our task is to stay vigilant, stay united, and continue to push back.”

Springsteen’s comments are the latest in a long running public spat with the US president.

Last month, Springsteen called for Trump to be impeached, saying that he should be “consigned to the trash heap of history”.

Trump previously called The Boss “highly overrated” earlier this year, after the artist hit out at his administration’s “corruption” and “incompetence” during a show in Manchester. The POTUS also shared a meme depicting him hitting Springsteen with a golf ball.

In May, Springsteen included his anti-Trump speeches in Manchester on a new live EP titled ‘Land Of Hope And Dreams’. The president responded shortly afterwards, writing: “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States.

“Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy – Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.” He also called for a “major investigation” into the artist and other musicians who supported Kamala Harris.

Over the summer, The Boss slammed Trump’s “disgusting” ICE raids and immigration policies, calling the President a “moron”. He later said that Trump being in power again was an “American tragedy”.

It comes as Springsteen: Deliver From Nowhere hits cinemas today (October 24). In a four star review NME wrote: “What Deliver Me From Nowhere shows well is just how commercial success was a distant second to Springsteen – a man who had no choice but to rip those ‘Nebraska’ songs from his wounded heart.”

Speaking about his experience of The Boss in a new interview with NME, which you can watch above, Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Springsteen in the biopic, also said: “The first time I recorded ‘Nebraska’, which was the first time I was really singing on set… I knew Bruce was there that day, but I didn’t want to see him on my way to set.

“I needed to stay in what I was doing. He found me afterwards and he looked me in my eyes, gave me a hug and held me. That gave me a tremendous amount of confidence going forward to finish the film.”
