CHALK have shared their latest single ‘Can’t Feel It’ and announced details of their biggest UK and Ireland headline tour to date.

The Belfast post-punk duo – made up of vocalist Ross Cullen and guitarist/synth player Benedict Goddard – have shared the follow-up to February’s EP ‘Conditions III’ and their August single ‘Pain’ with ‘Can’t Feel It’.

Produced by Chris Ryan (Just Mustard, NewDad) and Cullen, the track is built on a bed of nervous, twitching synths, with Cullen’s longing vocals lending the song an angsty, barely contained ferocity.

The band will head out to North America for their first headline tour there next month, while they have also shared details of their biggest UK and European shows, which kick off in Brussels on April 10. They play London’s Electric Ballroom on April 23, as well as dates in Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Dublin, before a major hometown show at Belfast’s Limelight on May 16.

Tickets go on pre-sale at 10am on Tuesday (October 28), with general sale beginning at the same time the following day. You will be able to find yours here.

    CHALK will play:

Speaking about ‘Can’t Feel It’, Cullen has said: “We wanted to write a dance track that celebrated the ups and downs of youth. It’s about a secret first kiss I had with a friend when I was younger, and reminiscing on the euphoria of that – but also the excitement of keeping something hidden from everyone around me, which in the end led to feelings of solitude and alienation.”

The band have also spoken about the video, saying: “‘Can’t Feel It’ is a song about sensuality, yearning, and desire. I wanted to set this story in a medieval world of courtly love and rivalry, merging mythic imagery with modern elements like smartphones and earpods. The result is a music video that reflects the tension between repression and release, tradition and experimentation.”

CHALK were one of the five Irish bands, with Cardinals, Enola Gay, Gurriers and NewDad, to make a joint statement at SXSW in 2024, explaining their decision to pull out of the festival in solidarity with Palestine after it was revealed that the US Army and defence contractor RTX (Raytheon) were sponsors of the event.
