Many Swifties are wondering why Taylor Swift didn’t receive a single nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards. The full list of nominees for the upcoming ceremony slated to air in February 2026 was announced on Friday, November 7, but the chart-topping artist was nowhere to be found. This is despite her releasing the best-selling “The Life of a Showgirl” album last month in October 2025. But don’t worry, fans. There’s a legitimate reason why the popular singer won’t be receiving any awards at the 68th Grammys.
Swift was nominated for a Grammy every year since 2018 until now
The reason why Taylor Swift didn’t get a nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards is because she missed the eligibility window for the ceremony.
The eligibility period for the 68th Grammys runs from August 31, 2024 to August 30, 2025. However, Swift released her album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” in April 2024 and dropped “The Life of a Showgirl” about a week after the window ended. She also didn’t release any music video within that period.
Swift hasn’t been shut out of the Grammy nominations that many times since she was given a Best New Artist nod in 2008. The only years when she wasn’t nominated for a Grammy were in 2009, 2011, and 2017. But given that she has a total of 14 Grammys and holds the record for being the only artist to receive the Album of the Year Grammy four times, Swift is not exactly lacking in hardware.
On the bright side, Swift doesn’t need to worry about being shut out of the 2027 Grammys given that she can submit her “The Life of a Showgirl” album and music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” for that ceremony.
And of course, the popular artist can still appear at the 2026 Grammys as a performer or a presenter.
