Chile officially has the most metal beauty queen on Earth. Ignacia Fernández, the 27-year-old model who stunned viewers by unleashing a death metal performance during the Miss World Chile semifinals, has just been crowned Miss World Chile 2025. Somewhere, a tiara is headbanging.
Last week, Fernández went viral after ditching traditional pageant talents in favour of a full-throttle extreme metal performance, complete with growls, screams and guitarist Carlos Palma shredding beside her.
Ignacia Fernández – Miss World Chile Semi-Final Performance
The clip tore through the internet like a blast beat, with metal fans, normies and confused aunties alike all asking the same thing: “Did a pageant queen just start a one-woman circle pit on national TV?”
Yep. She did.
Fernández is the lead vocalist of Chilean death metal outfit Decessus, and instead of softening her edges for prime-time TV, she leaned in hard.
“Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am… a refuge, a source of strength and purpose,” she wrote after her performance, adding that she wanted to break down barriers and show that authenticity beats stereotypes every time.
On Sunday, that boldness paid off. Ignacia walked away with the crown – dethroning decades of pageant tradition with one mighty death growl – and is now gearing up to represent Chile on the global Miss World stage in 2025.
I couldn’t be happier or more grateful! I promise to give it my all, with passion, hard work, and purpose,” Fernández quipped.
She also thanked fans for the worldwide celebration of her viral performance: “My singing is a piece of my soul… thank you for supporting it and inspiring me to dream big.”
Between being a model, a death metal frontwoman and an animal rights advocate, Fernández isn’t just breaking the mould, she’s pretty much smashing it with a double-kick pedal. Whether she walks the international runway in a gown, corpse paint, or both, one thing’s clear: Chile’s new Miss World rep is ready to bring the ruckus.
Long live the queen.
