Netflix has confirmed it will release a new video game to accompany the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Wake Up Dead Man is the third Knives Out movie and sees the return of Daniel Craig’s super sleuth Benoit Blanc. The film is due to launch in select UK cinemas later this month (November 26) before it hits Netflix on December 12.
To go alongside the release, Netflix has confirmed plans for a Knives Out-inspired party game. “World-famous detective Benoit Blanc is in the house to solve another murder. This time? It’s at your house and everyone’s a suspect in this social party game where you and your crew star in your own Knives Out mystery. It’s up to you to deduce what happened and convince everyone you’re not the killer. Or, if you are, you’ve got to keep Blanc off your tail and make sure you influence the vote so you don’t get outed,” reads an official description (via Variety).
Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game will be free to play for all subscribers and makes use of your TV controller.
It’s not the only party game coming to Netflix either. Tetris Time Warp, Pictionary: Game Night, Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends, LEGO Party and Boggle Party are out now while Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game is “coming soon”.
“Starting today, you can play games on your TV, using your phone as a controller — no setup needed, it’s as easy as streaming your favourite shows,” Netflix president of games Alain Tascan said.
This isn’t the first gaming collab Netflix have released. Last year, Squid Game: Unleashed was released to promote the second season, a number of Stranger Things tie-ins have been shared and the Russo Brothers’ Netflix movie The Electric State was supported with a mobile game prequel. In March, Tascan said he wanted to turn more Netflix IPs into video games, with Bridgerton, Stranger Things and One Piece top of his list.
Last night it was confirmed an updated version of Red Dead Redemption would be joining Netflix’s games offering.
In other news, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 is out now but fans really aren’t impressed with the “terrible” new co-op campaign.
