Biffy Clyro have postponed their upcoming US tour less than a week before it was set to kick off due to “some fucking genius” making a major admin error when applying for their visas – find out more below.

Last month, the Scottish rockers announced a string of intimate shows across the United States, that was due to start on December 2 in Los Angeles and conclude on the 14th in Washington. Just hours ago, Biffy’s Simon Neil took to the band’s social media pages to announce that those dates are now being postponed to sometime in the new year.

According to Neil, the delay comes thanks to “some fucking genius” who applied for the band’s working visas with the wrong dates: “Some fucking genius put the wrong start date into our work visa, so when we received our visas in the last couple of days, we realised it doesn’t begin until after our tour is meant to finish.”

“We’ve been in touch with four or five immigration lawyers, we’ve been in touch with Congress. There’s fuck all any of them can do to help,” Neil continued before acknowledging that fans had probably booked flights, accommodation and more for the US shows.

“We are so angry about this. Especially in LA, we had to cancel the show last time because I caught fucking COVID, and now we’re cancelling our first show in LA, which was meant to be special but of course not. So the tour is postponed. Sometimes I feel slightly cursed when it comes to Biffy touring America but we’re going to try and keep a little bit of faith.”

The frontman then said that they’re currently working on rescheduling these dates for sometime in April or May and will be announcing the new dates when they’re confirmed. Fans can seek refunds for their December tickets, or they can hold on to them for the rescheduled shows.

“I completely understand if you want to get refunds and you’ve lost faith in us, I get it and I’d be fucking raging at us too. You can’t be any madder at us than I am… thanks for your time and sorry for fucking wasting it,” Neil concluded.

See the full video statement below.

The US tour postponement comes just days after the band announced their biggest headline show ever at Finsbury Park next summer, with support from Nothing But Thieves, Don Broco, and more – tickets go on sale on Friday (November 28) at 10am. Visit here for tickets.

The Finsbury Park gig will follow Biffy Clyro playing a huge tour celebrating ‘Futique’ at the start of the new year. Playing arenas around the UK and Ireland, those dates kick off on January 9 in Belfast, and continue with stops in Dublin, Nottingham, London and more over the month. Joining them on that run of shows will be special guests Soft Play and The Armed.

Biffy’s latest album was given a glowing four-star review from NME when it dropped, and described as “one of their most personal and definitive records to date”. “There’s a vulnerability met with a forward motion; a feeling of three friends shining light through the cracks to find a renewed sense of purpose,” it read. “You can holler ‘Mon the Biff!’ for a while longer, it seems. A little love and a lot of noise goes a long way.”

Back in September, the Scottish rockers spoke to NME about their latest album, and Neil described it as “arms-wide-open, defenceless, for better or worse, here it is.”

Telling NME about the song ‘Goodbye’, he said it was almost like a “goodbye to a version of myself I’m trying to leave behind.” “That’s not how I want the song to be read, but that was my initial instinct: the ‘too much of never enough’ shit,” he added. “It’s really hard for me to find the balance between going at 100mph and being completely static.”
