Aussie punk rock royalty The Living End are back louder than ever, announcing their first new album in eight years – I Only Trust Rock n Roll – dropping September 26 via BMG. Alongside the blistering new title track, the trio are gearing up to do what they do best: tear up stages across the country on a monster national tour this spring.
True to its name, I Only Trust Rock n Roll promises The Living End at their most stripped-back, sharp-edged and dialled-in. Written during frontman Chris Cheney’s stint in the US amid political unrest and pandemic chaos, the album leans into that pressure-cooker energy, channelling it into eleven razor-sharp rippers.
The Living End – ‘I Only Trust Rock N Roll’
“I didn’t want bells and whistles — just songs that slam,” Cheney explains in a press statement. “Trim the fat. Keep it lean. Make it count.”
To celebrate, The Living End will hit the road for a string of special double-set shows that’ll cover every era of their storied career.
The first half will be a mix of greatest hits (‘White Noise’, ‘Roll On’, ‘Who’s Gonna Save Us’) plus new cuts from I Only Trust Rock n Roll. The second? A full front-to-back performance of their iconic 1998 self-titled debut LP – yep, that means ‘Second Solution’, ‘All Torn Down’, ‘Save the Day’, ‘Prisoner of Society’ and every track in between.
Drummer Andy Strachan sums it up best: “The best gigs are when we come off completely rooted. We leave nothing behind”.
Fans can pre-order the album here to score early access to those tour tix, or take the freshly minted title track for a spin up above.
