Soundside Festival in Connecticut have cancelled their 2025 event due to “circumstances beyond our control”.

The fourth annual edition of the Bridgeport festival had been set to take place on September 27 and 28, with organisers announcing in March that this year’s headliners would be The Killers, Weezer, Vampire Weekend and Hozier.

In a statement posted to their website, the festival said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled. Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank’s processing time.”

CT Insider have reported that Thomas Gaudett, a local government official, has suggested that the reason for the sudden cancellation could come down to the bands that were booked for 2025.

“It’s our understanding that this year’s line-up was drawing a lot fewer attendees than we have seen in the last few years,” he said. “And that may have had an impact on the decision to cancel.”

In addition to the headline acts, artists that had also been announced for Soundside 2025 included The Last Dinner Party, Djo, Japanese Breakfast, Inhaler, Rachel Chinouriri, Remi Wolf, Alex Warren and The Backseat Lovers.

Also announced were Wild Rivers, Hollow Coves, Dipsea Flower, Chelsea Cutler, Gigi Perez, Brenn!, Vundabar and Happy Landing.

Last year, Soundside were due to host Foo Fighters as headliners but the band withdrew from the slot after it emerged that frontman Dave Grohl had become the father of a baby girl outside of his marriage. They went on to be replaced on the bill by Jack White and Greta Van Fleet.

Soundside was founded in 2022 as Sound On Sound, switching its name last year. The first event featured Stevie Nicks, The Lumineers, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at the top of the bill.
