Wembley Stadium broke into The Poznan at Oasis‘ show last night, with Dua Lipa and Jarvis Cocker among the enthusiastic crowd.

Last night (July 26), the Britpop giants played the second of seven Live ’25 dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, following two gigs in Cardiff and a five-night homecoming residency at Manchester’s Heaton Park.

Saturday evening saw them break out a staple of their live sets in The Poznan. The celebration – borrowed from their beloved Man City – involves fans facing away from the stage, linking arms with fellow gig-goers and jumping up and down in unison.

After Liam joked that they “didn’t ask much” of the crowd, and never asked them to the “hokey cokey”, he asked them to The ‘Poznan’ for ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’, as they’ve done throughout the tour. The 81,000-strong crowd obliged, with many taking to social media after the gig to share clips of the moment, which you can watch below.

It kickstarted some football banter between the band and the crowd, with Liam and Noel throwing barbs at Arsenal and Manchester United, occasionally earning some light-hearted boos, but with the gig ultimately leaving fans “ecstatic”, following suit from their “unbelievable” first night in the capital.

At one point, Noel pointed to the cardboard cut-out of Pep Guardiola on stage and told Arsenal fans that he was their “master” before playing ‘The Masterplan’. Oasis had already paid tribute to the Manchester City manager at their first homecoming Heaton Park gig, after Liam and Noel Gallagher‘s children and Richard Ashcroft met him backstage.

Both Gallagher brothers are avid supporters of the club, with Noel being particularly vocal about it in recent years. In 2016, he was the first person to interview Guardiola when he became the new Man City manager, and in 2021, he revealed that he kept the cardboard cutout of Guardiola in his studio to help inspire his songwriting.

As fans noted on X/Twitter, Guardiola – if only his cut-out on this occasion – wasn’t the only familiar face in the crowd. Dua Lipa and Pulp‘s Jarvis Cocker were in attendance, which follows the former performing two sold-out shows at the venue in June.

When speaking to NME last month, Cocker joked about getting on the guestlist for the reunion shows, and touched on the current Britpop renaissance – though he resisted the label.

“It was an exciting time before they came with that definition of indie bands starting to make waves on the mainstream scene,” he told us. “It felt like a revolution could happen. If people are feeling like that again – that they can make their own thing and it can be taken notice of – then that would be great.

“If that kind of attitude is coming back, then I would be very excited about it, just not the ‘BP’ word – it’s a terrible word.”

The Wembley gigs mark their first performances in London since their infamous 2009 split, and will continue through from next Wednesday (July 30), Saturday (August 2) and Sunday (3), wrapping up after the huge reunion tour hits Edinburgh, Dublin and North America, after which they’ll head back to London for an additional two concerts at Wembley on September 27 and 28.

At the first of the 41 comeback shows, NME gave the historic night the full five stars. “After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century,” the review read.

“Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”
