Good Things has continued plotting its 2025 return, having shared its official dates and now its official venues. As has become tradition, the festival is set to take place across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in a whirlwind 72-hour period on the first weekend of December. Melbourne and Brisbane’s festival dates will remain at their original venues of Flemington Racecourse and the RNA Brisbane Showgrounds respectively. However, for the first time ever, Good Things has announced that the Sydney festival will take place away from Centennial Park in the city’s CBD area.
In 2025, Good Things in Sydney will instead take place out at Sydney Showground – which has housed countless festivals over the years, ranging from the Big Day Out and Soundwave up to Laneway Festival as recently as 2023 and 2024. Ironically, the latter moved from Sydney Showground to Centennial Park in 2025. In a press release, organisers of the festival promised “the Good Things experience levelled up across the board” with the move to the Olympic Park locale.
Good Things Festival 2024: The After-Movie
“Sydney Showground [boasts] a bigger capacity, more shelter and existing facilities, and is a much more accessible-friendly venue for patrons,” it read. “The venue will also mean better transport options and integrated transport, making your journey to and from Good Things Festival way easier so you can focus on the important things: the bands, the vibes and all the good things that come with this annual extravaganza.”
An official date for 2025’s line-up announcement was not given with the save-the-date announcement. Organisers have, however, ensured that the line-up would be “coming to you soon”. Last year’s line-up was headlined by Korn, with main-stage performances from Electric Callboy, Jet, Mastodon, Northlane, The Living End, Bowling For Soup, 311 and Loathe. Sum 41 were supposed to co-headline the festival on their farewell tour, but were pulled due to frontman Deryck Whibley being struck down by pneumonia while in the country. The festival also featured Violent Femmes playing their 1983 self-titled album in full in the unofficial “legends slot” of 6pm, following the same spot being taken by the reunited TISM in 2022 and by Devo‘s farewell tour the following year in 2023.
