Kingsman star Taron Egerton has revealed that he’s not quite keen on being the next James Bond – see what he said below.

Speaking to Collider earlier this week, Egerton was seemingly quick to distance himself from the possibility of being cast as the next James Bond. When asked if he had thrown his hat into the ring for casting calls, Egerton said: “No. And I don’t think I’m a good choice for it. I think I’m too messy for that.”
Egerton went on to explain: “I think I’m not — I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig‘s tenure. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.”
“James Bond is quite an undertaking and I think, one, as far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it,” he continued. “But also, it’s possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest. I do think it’s a big old undertaking, it kind of consumes your life, a role like that.”
Egerton’s comments come after it was announced in June that Dune director Denis Villeneuve will be helming the next film in the Bond franchise, which will reboot the character after the departure of Daniel Craig in 2021’s No Time To Die.
This isn’t the first time Egerton has shot down rumours that he could be the next Bond. Back in 2023, the actor said: “I don’t think I’m the right choice for it. You have to be consistently statuesque to be that guy. And that’s something that I am still striving for. I’ve always struggled with my weight.”
Egerton is best known for his roles in the Kingsman franchise, his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman, and other projects like Smoke, Eddie The Eagle, Sing, Tetris, Carry-On and Black Bird.
