Cast frontman John Power has said that being able to support Oasis on their ‘Live ‘25’ tour “really authenticates our legacy”.

The band have been opening for the Britpop giants since they kicked off their mammoth comeback tour with two nights at Principality Stadium in Cardiff last month.

Since then, they have joined them (alongside former frontman of The Verve, Richard Ashcroft), at five shows at Heaton Park in Manchester, five of their seven sold-out stops at Wembley Stadium in London, two stops at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and two stops in Croke Park in Dublin – and gone down a treat with fans in the process.

Now, following the first run of UK and Ireland shows wrapping up in Dublin over the weekend – before heading back for two more London shows next month – the Cast singer has looked back at the opportunity, and the impact it has had on his band.

“It’s become something more than a show. It’s a vicious world out there, and there’s so much joy in the gigs,” he told Spin, looking at the mammoth impact of the shows. “People are going ape shit. I’ve watched many of the shows to the end because it’s an amazing, uplifting vibe all the way through.”

Speaking about how the idea arose for them to join Oasis on the tour, Power said it was purely down to Liam and Noel Gallagher vouching for them.

“[Liam] was like, ‘John, I’ve spoken to Noel, and we want you to open’. We wouldn’t be on this tour if it wasn’t for Liam. There’s no doubt,” he explained. “It wasn’t a business decision. We’re there because Liam and Noel pushed and said, ‘We want them on the tour.’ That’s such a massive nod from our peers. It really authenticates our legacy.”

The two acts have a history together, not only did Cast play with Oasis at their iconic Knebworth ‘96 shows – as well as past shows in Paris, Irving Beach, Loch Lomond, and more – Noel Gallagher given them the seal of approval numerous times; describing Power as being “as cosmic as the day is long.”

Liam Gallagher is a longtime fan too, and enlisted the group to join him last summer as part of his huge ‘Definitely Maybe’ anniversary tour dates.

Talking to Spin, Power shared that he thinks the latest tour has gone down such a storm because the Britpop giants are back “on top form”. He said: “Liam is singing amazing. His voice is better than I’ve heard in a decade or more. It’s got a brightness that reminds you of Oasis in their heyday. Watching Noel’s expressions and nuances, he’s having the time of his life.”

The comments coincide with comments he made to Vulture last month, where he said what it was like to be working so closely with the Gallagher brothers. “[They] seem to be in an absolutely wonderful place,” he said. “They both genuinely … well, of course they want to be there, but you can feel the positive energy. It’s all going hunky-dory.”

Before then, he spoke to NME in October 2024 about the then-upcoming shows, and explained that he was certain there would be a “very positive vibe” from all involved.

“When you walk on stage, it’s about the here and now – no one’s getting nostalgic. It’s not about yesterday, these [Oasis] shows are going to be about 2025 and creating the myth of tomorrow,” he said.

“Hopefully 20 years from now, people will be talking about this tour like they talk about the legend of Knebworth or whatever.”
