“Skin” is a stylish, catchy new single from Simon spx, a producer and vocalist based in Glasgow. Witch house, electroclash, and funky rhythmic inspirations interweave on the standout electro-pop production, which represents the first song the artist ever made. “It isn’t just a song; it also represents how much I’ve grown as a producer over the past year,” Simon spx says. “The idea behind this track is numbness as a result of hookup culture and the commodification of dating; however, the lyrics are intentionally vague, allowing a larger audience to extract their own meaning.”
A swell of buzzing synths maneuvers into a bouncy rhythmic pulse and steady vocal immersion. Their melodic, stutter-y approach proves infectious amidst the synth-pop atmospherics, emitting lyrical depictions of physical yearning while also hinting at emotional detachment rampant in society: “I can’t feel your skin on my hands.
