Jacob Elordi has revealed that the cast of Euphoria are filming their scenes for the show’s third season separately.
The long-awaited new season of the hit HBO teen drama is due to arrive in 2026, with filming reported to have begun in February. It had been scheduled to begin in late 2023, but was halted due to the Hollywood strikes and the unexpected death of star Angus Cloud.
The Sam Levinson-created show is notable for having launched the career of several actors that have since become significant stars, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer and Storm Reid.
Another is Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs in the show, a star football player at the high school and an abusive boyfriend to Alexa Demie’s Maddy Perez. Since Euphoria season one’s debut in 2019, Elordi has become a sought-after actor, appearing as Elvis Presley in Priscilla, and also taking lead roles in Saltburn and The Kissing Booth films.
Given the nature of the key cast’s success, it appears that finding time for them all to be on set for Euphoria season three together has been a challenge.
Speaking to Variety, Elordi has said: “I was pretty busy. But I will say it’s really nice to be back. It’s been eight years or something since I started. It’s just lovely to see all these people that you’ve grown up with. It’s the same crew, the same cast.”
When asked whether he expects the new episodes to see a jump forward in the timeline, he replied: “I don’t really know what anyone else is doing. It’s all quite separate.”
As well as the existing cast, season three will also see Rosalia, Marshawn Lynch and Sharon Stone all making their debut in the series. Storm Reid, however, will not be returning as the younger sister of Zendaya’s character.
Last month, HBO announced that Hans Zimmer would be co-composing the score for the new season, working alongside composer-producer Labrinth. ““It’s an honour to join this incredible team of storytellers led by the visionary Sam Levinson,” Zimmer said. “Together, they have crafted such a bold and moving series that has meant so much to audiences.”
HBO have also hinted that the third season would likely mark the end of the show. Head of Drama Francesco Orsi said: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end.”
