A dreamy pop entrancement shines throughout Find My Way Home, the new album from NYC-based artist My Favourite Things. Lushly melodic productions pair with thematic explorations of the human experience, spanning from “moments of quiet searching to glimpses of joy, connection, and resilience.” The project’s fourth full-length, Find My Way Home enamors in showcasing Dorothea Tachler’s riveting songwriting and dynamic vocals, from the serene folk-set sentiments within opening track “Sailing” to the sweeping orchestral-laden fervency of “The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For.”
Amongst the album’s many highlights, “Welcome To Me” is especially magnetic in its array of twinkling keys, heartfelt strings, and beckoning vocals — asking “can I come over to stay?” in baring one’s soul and embracing self-acceptance. Playful synth infusions adorn the lovely production, also featuring three Berlin-based singers that culminate in a gorgeous title-referencing vocal interweaving. It’s an especially memorable showcase of Tachler’s fantastic songwriting and melodic vocal charms.
Find My Way Home consistently delights, showcasing an especially versatile appeal on “Just Because,” where subdued folk introspections and multiple vocal layers — asking “have you heard the news?” — ascend into a textured chamber-pop theatrical pull. “Thunderstorm” is another show-stopper, further embracing alluring strings and hazy vocal layering, for a memorably emotive success.
Find My Way Home is a thorough success from My Favourite Things, who recently (August 20th) played a record release show at Bowery Electric in NYC.
