France-based model-turned-musician, singer and songwriter Estelle Chen has just shared her brand new single touch, the first original song she has ever written alongside her partner and creative collaborator Stanford Lin, who also produced the track.
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how smooth and soulful it sounds, perfect for a laid-back weekend. The second single to be lifted from her upcoming self-titled debut EP, touch finds the talented artist sharing a story about longing and belonging – both romantic and personal. A relatable storytelling flawlessly conveyed through her dreamy, soulful vocals which are accompanied by a genre-blending production of Nu Jazz, R&B and Alt-Pop elements that together create a chilled out atmosphere that keeps me want to come back to it over and over again!
The accompanying music video, directed by Juana Wein, was filmed over three days in Shanghai and portrays Estelle Chen’s inner conflict as a Chinese-born Parisian navigating identity–constantly shifting between blending in and searching for where she truly belong.
