Rising indie-pop artist Lila Holler shares her brand new single The Way I Am Now, a haunting indie-pop confessional about love, insecurity, and the hope for unconditional acceptance.
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and soothing touch that makes it perfect for a relaxing, introspective weekend. Her most vulnerable release to day, The Way I Am Now was written during a period of personal struggle and finds the talented artist balancing themes of self-care, insecurity, and intimacy within a serious relationship. Haunting yet tender, this track feels like a spiral of thoughts unravelling in real time, with its stillness carrying weight, creating an atmosphere meant to be absorbed in solitude. I am loving her enchanting, emotive vocals and dreamy harmonies which ground the track in raw honesty, creating a space for listeners to sink into their own quiet reflections. Accompanying her lovely vocals we have gentle guitar strums nicely intertwined with emotive piano keys and dreamy textures that come together to create an overall warm, soothing atmosphere.
Speaking about the song, Lila Holler said,
I wrote this song while in the midst of dealing with some mental health issues last year. Being in a serious relationship, I had to learn how to balance taking care of myself and showing up with my 50%. It’s a song laced with insecurities, written in the hopes that people who deal with the same struggles feel less alone.
