The numbers are in for Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” album. Many Swifties want to know how much her 12th studio album, which was released on October 3, has made so far in its first week and how many records it has sold. Fortunately, Billboard has tallied some of the gross sales for Swift’s chart-topping effort, while Swift herself still marvels at how many people “care enough” to buy her music throughout her career. Here’s how much “Life of Showgirl” has made in sales in its debut week.

Swift compares The Life of a Showgirl sales to her first album

In its opening week, Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” has earned at least $135 million in sales from 4 million records sold, according to Billboard. However, even the site says that this number “is surely too low,” so it’s expected that the official numbers will be much higher.

In response, Swift congratulated all 4 million fans that bought her latest album in an Instagram post. “I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to fans,” she wrote, “and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”

The Grammy-winning artist still can’t believe the extent of her fanbase, especially when compared to when she released her first album nearly 20 years ago. “I’ll never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week. I was 16 and couldn’t even fathom that that many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy into it.”

On top of that, the movie “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” raked in over $34 million domestically in 3,702 theaters over its limited three-day weekend, per Box Office Mojo. It also earned $16 million internationally, bringing the grand total of gross sales to over $50 million. While this pales in comparison to the $261 million that “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” made, that’s still a good chunk of change.
