Mumbai-based artist Saachi consumes across her debut album Wishbone, a soulful, funk-tinged exploration of resilience, vulnerability, and hope. Having honed her craft from Berklee College of Music to major festival stages like NH7 Weekender and VH1 Supersonic, Saachi channels her jazz and blues foundations into a shimmering alt-pop sound rich with nostalgia and modern groove.

“E.L.T.” opens the album with an electronic intrigue, weaving hazy glimmers of synths amidst affectionate vocal samples — drawing the “good” vocal out as mellow percussion and funky synth-bass emerge. A multi-vocal entrancement then takes hold, harmonious and debonair in its captivating delivery. The gradual additions of moody synth lines dazzles, as does the “nothing to prove” soaring vocal standout. The ensuing “The Power” continues the delightful production, swelling from ghostly vocal effects into soul-searching lyrical sentiments, bolstered gradually by thumping rock confidence amidst more soulful vocal layers.

Another standout track arises via “Eyes on Me,” which enthralls in its dynamics between laid-back introspections and heightened title-touting theatrics. Wishbone impresses with outstanding vocal work throughout, and it’s especially evident here. The same can be said on album finale “Cruise Control,” where admissions of “something taking over me” invigorates amidst a heavy bass pulse and sophisticated alt-pop energy. Wishbone is a stylish, melodic success from Saachi.
