AC/DC have performed the Bon Scott-era classic ‘Jailbreak’ live for the first time in 34 years – check out footage below.

Last night (November 12), AC/DC kicked off their first hometown tour in 10 years, performing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. To make their first show back in Australia a special one for fans, the legendary rock band treated fans to a surprise performance of a tune they hadn’t played since 1991.

13 tracks into their electrifying performance, AC/DC performed ‘Jailbreak’ for the first time in 34 years. Originally released in 1976 with the band’s founding vocalist Bon Scott – who died in 1980 – the track was last performed in New Zealand on November 16, 1991, almost exactly 34 years to the day.

Watch fan-shot footage of the performance below.

Elsewhere during their set, AC/DC performed two other Scott-era fan favourites ‘If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)’ and ‘Riff Raff’ for the first time in Australia.

Other hits they performed included ‘Back In Black’, ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘Highway To Hell’, ‘Shoot To Thrill’, ‘T.N.T.’ and ‘For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)’.

AC/DC’s setlist in Melbourne, Australia on November 12 was:

‘If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)’ (first time in Australia)
    ‘Back In Black’
    ‘Demon Fire’
    ‘Shot Down In Flames’
    ‘Thunderstruck’
    ‘Have A Drink On Me’
    ‘Hells Bells’
    ‘Shot In The Dark’
    ‘Stiff Upper Lip’
    ‘Highway To Hell’
    ‘Shoot To Thrill’
    ‘Sin City’
    ‘Jailbreak’ (first time since 1991)
    ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’
    ‘High Voltage’
‘Riff Raff’ (first time in Australia)
‘You Shook Me All Night Long’
    ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’
    ‘Let There Be Rock’
    ‘T.N.T.’
‘For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)’

Following last night’s Melbourne show, the band are due to return to the Melbourne Cricket Ground this weekend (November 16) for a second show. Other dates in Australia include two stops in Sydney, one in Adelaide, two in Perth and two in Brisbane.

AC/DC’s remaining ‘PWR UP’ Australian tour dates are:

    NOVEMBER
    16 – Melbourne – Melbourne Cricket Ground
    21 – Sydney – Accord Stadium
    25 – Sydney – Accord Stadium

30 – Adelaide – bp Adelaide Grand Final

    DECEMBER
    04 – Perth – Optus Stadium
    08 – Perth – Optus Stadium
    14 – Brisbane – Suncorp Stadium
    18 – Brisbane – Suncorp Stadium

The ‘PWR UP’ tour takes its name from AC/DC’s 2020 album of the same name (‘Power Up’), their 17th studio record. In a four-star review of the album, NME wrote: “By the time things wrap up on ‘Code Red’, which sees the band firing on all cylinders, it becomes clear that their steadfast refusal to adapt or change is no bad thing. While far from a reinvention of the wheel, ‘Power Up’ is a joyous celebration of the unbridled heavy rock that has served them well for almost 50 years and, we can hope, a unifying cry for the future.”
