NYC-based synthpop riser Mykola engages with new single “Always Lead to You,” a self-produced breakup confessional that twists the trope by casting himself as the chaotic ex — equal parts vulnerable, impulsive, and disarmingly humorous. Blending glimmering synth-pop aesthetics with themes of proud queerness, insatiable desire, and self-reflection, the Ukrainian-born artist channels both resilience and playfulness into the song’s impactful dance-forward pulse.

The track unfolds with enjoyably climactic precision, dazzling across both punchy hooks and heart-on-sleeve “packing my suitcase” vocal declarations. Spacey, playful synths combine with dual vocal layers to start, emitting a title-touting refrain with dreamily hypnotic charm. The lead vocals then emerge with a nocturnal setting — “tonight, on the phone” — with introspective allure, admitting to insecurities before a more defiant vocal turn and “stars shine and they made you blind” remarking.

“Put on a show, giddy up,” the magnetic vocals continue with ample momentum, reminding there fondly of a cross between Erasure and Pet Shop Boys as the “always lead to you” refrain re-emerges. The clap-touched percussion and rustling bass intertwine into further synth-pop effervescence as the track comes to a sating close, representing a thorough, replay-tempting success from Mykola.

“This new track started as a slow ballad, but I wanted to experiment and flip the usual breakup story,” says Mykola. “Everyone sings about their ex like the ex is the villain — I wanted to be the toxic ex blowing up your phone all night. The song is silly and fun, but it also explores bisexuality and the complications, desires, and freedom that come with it. It can have multiple meanings depending on how you listen. I turned it into a dance-pop track and produced the whole thing myself over a couple of months.”
